As an artist and commercial advertising photographer for over 25 years, John turned his attention to food photography in 2008 and fortunatofood was born. John’s secret to capturing tasty images is to observe the food to be photographed before he creates the light that turns an ordinary plate into a mouth-watering dish with stunning colors and exquisite lighting.
"Far too many bad photographs exist today, says John, simply because some photographers never take the time to learn about lighting and it’s power of persuasion."
Because people eat with their eyes as well as their mouth, a delectable image is the best route to sales. At fortunatofood, we specialize in creating hi-quality food images and functional interactive experiences for our clients. John and his team are experts that take your project from concept to completion helping you build successful brands and online businesses. We serve clients both locally and internationally.

I grew up in Rahway, NJ, the youngest of four children to a middle-class working family. I studied art after high school before pursuing a photography education in Santa Barbara, CA at Brooks institute of Photography. After graduating Brooks, I came back to NYC with a dream and a passion for my craft. I opened my studio on 1985 and along the way, got married, had three daughters and moved to the suburbs. Now that my girls are grown, they all pursue artistic careers too. I currently reside in beautiful and conveniently located Dobbs Ferry, NY with my two big dogs. When I am not on a shooting job, you can find me traveling or hiking trails.
